Meet Lew Walters
In 1968 while going to college at night, I realized that I need a job to help me through school. I found an ad in the NY Times for a purchasing agent at Wells Fargo and thought it might be a good fit. I really enjoyed driving, counting money, and my hobby was target shooting. My interview went well and I was hired into the “alarm division” – no driving – no counting money – and of course, no gun!
More than 50 years later, I am still here. During that time, I have held many positions. I have helped companies get products to market, worked as a Regional Sales Manager, a Product Manager, and National Sales Manager. For the past 30 years I have been associated with the monitoring side of the industry.
When the Monitoring Association needed to develop a uniform training program for Central Station Dispatchers, I worked with other industry professionals to develop the program, which is still widely used today. In addition to the Monitoring Association, I have been very involved with various other alarm associations. For instance, I played a role in the infancy of the Pennsylvania Alarm Association and served as Vice President for 5 years. I was also Vice President and Director for the New Jersey Alarm Association, as well as helping both the Virginia and Tennessee Associations. My most memorable involvement was being the Chairman of the NJ Scholarship Committee and reading the essays, some of which brought tears to my eyes!
Through the years, I have traveled throughout the United States and Europe. The experiences I have had and the people I have met, have all contributed to my own growth and learning. Now I am ready to use that experience and learning to help your company.
